Rules

PITCH
Length of wicket = 16 yards
TEAMS & PLAYERS
Team players should be aged between 5 to 11 years of age. Players should be under 12 years of age on 28th August 2011.
8 teams will be participating. Each team will consist of 8 players, no more than 10 players in each squad.
No wooden bats or additional kit, e.g. wicket keeper’s gloves.
Each match will be of 16 overs duration.
FIELDERS
Move fielders after every over clockwise around wicket.
Every player to bowl and keep wicket.
Bowling is from 1 end only.
A catch, run-out, stumped, etc., as normal.
NO BALLS
If
a ball, bowled, bounces more than twice before reaching the batsman, or
if it reaches the batsman above shoulder height without bouncing, it
will be called a “no-ball.”
2 runs are added to the batting team’s total, PLUS WHATEVER RUNS ARE SCORED, EITHER BY THE STRIKER OR BYES.
WIDES
Deliveries
which are deemed by the umpire at the bowler’s end too wide for the
batsman to reach when in the normal stance position shall be called WIDE
immediately when the ball passes the batsman and 2 runs are added to
the batting team’s total, plus any byes.
NOTE: NO MATTER HOW WAYWARD IT MIGHT BE, IF THE BATTER MANAGES TO HIT OR TOUCH THE BALL, IT IS NOT A WIDE.
No extra ball is to be delivered in the over for wides and no-balls.
NOTE:
To encourage running between the wickets, the No Ball penalty of 2 runs
are added to the batting total IN ADDITION to whatever runs are scored
for that particular ball.
THE BATTING TEAM
The batting team
starts with 200 runs and bats for 8 overs in pairs. Pairs will bat for 2
overs each irrespective of whether they are out. If a wicket falls, 5
runs are deducted from the total. The batsman who is out must not face
the next ball.
LEG BEFORE WICKET
In very simple terms, a
batter can be given out if the umpire feels that a ball, which hits
his/her leg or foot, would have hit the stumps.
This rule will NOT be used UNLESS a batter deliberately blocks or kicks the ball with his/her leg or foot.
NOTE: THE GAME IS NOT 'TIP AND RUN'.
BOUNDARIES
To
encourage children to run between the wickets, there are no boundaries.
With pitches in close proximity, players should continue to retrieve a
ball if it enters another playing area. Umpires should suspend play if
another ball interrupts their game and where an accident may occur. If
this happens, DEAD BALL must be called, and another ball bowled instead.
IF
THE BALL IS LOST or difficult to retrieve straight away, umpires must
CALL LOST BALL and award the batting side an agreed number of runs
before the next ball is bowled.
UMPIRES
The nominated umpire
for each team may umpire their respective team. The umpire from the
fielding side will be at the bowling stump. The umpire from the batting
side will be at square leg. Both umpires will keep score and agree the
result at the end of each match.
UMPIRES MUST NOT COACH DURING THE MATCH.
POINTS SYSTEM
League positions are decided on points as follows: WIN = 3 POINTS; LOSE = 1 POINT; TIE (SCORES LEVEL) = 2 POINTS EACH.
Thereafter, positions are decided on runs total and then on wickets lost.
In the event of a tie, number of wickets lost to decide.
